Dr. Kathryn Adele Blair 69, of Kirksville passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Kirksville Manor Care Center.
    
The daughter of Charles E. Blair, Jr. and Virginia L. Roeder Sherer, she was born June 27, 1943 in St. Louis, MO. Kathryn was raised by her grandparents, Adele Louise Havemann  and Charles Eugene Blair, from the age of 4. She had several half-brothers and one half-sister.
    
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
    
Kathryn was reared in St. Louis, MO where she attended the Southwest High School, graduating with the Class of 1961. She graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with both undergraduate and doctorate degrees in Philosophy. She began her teaching career at Truman State University in 1970. Dr. Blair taught courses in Biomedical Ethics, Women’s Studies, Introduction to Ethics & Philosophy and Public Affairs. She had a pioneering influence on the development of Women’s Studies at Truman State University. Dr. Blair made a significant contribution to the education of many pre-med students. She retired in 2004.
    
Kathryn was a member of the Democratic National Committee, Hastings Center and Phi Beta Kappa. She enjoyed reading, dining with friends and keeping up with fashion. She beloved her cat, Cecil and friends, Betty Kraemer and Patty Bonzani. She will be clearly missed.
    
There will be a celebration of Kathryn’s life on Friday, July 20, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Wooden Nickel Restaurant in Kirksville. All family and friends are welcome. Dinner will be served. Arrangements are under the direction of the
