Melvin Pearson
Melvin Clark Pearson, 94, of Unionville, MO passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on June 9, 2012.
Melvin was born in Pollock, MO on November 16, 1917, the son of William Henry and Mary (Morley) Pearson. On June 1, 1940 Melvin married the love of his life, Crystal McDonald in Milan, MO and three children were born to this union. Melvin enlisted in the Army during WWII in 1944 serving in the 382nd Infantry, 96th Division because he loved his family and country with all his heart. After his service, Melvin worked as a carpenter most of his life enjoying cabinet making most of all. Melvin always put his family first. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren wanting to protect them from anything and everything.
After the passing of his wife, Melvin was able to have his constant companion, Lucky (a cocker spaniel) with him in the care center for a while. Melvin was a very strong man, both mentally and physically. He was blessed with a sharp mind to the very end.
Melvin Pearson is survived by a daughter, Patsy Thompson and husband Garry of Unionville, MO, and several grandchildren, great and great, great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Crystal and his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by sisters Lydia Anna McDannald and Lynna Myrle Hicks. An infant daughter, Glenda in addition to a son, Jerry also preceded Melvin.
Memorials for Melvin are suggested to the Scobee Cemetery and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
