Charles Preston Summers
1944 – 2012

Charles Preston Summers, 68, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday (June 7, 2012) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of George Wilson and Lula Mae (Waddill) Summers, he was born February 29, 1944 in Kirksville, Missouri.

Charles is survived by one brother, Virgil Gene Corbett of Kirksville, MO; one sister-in-law, Nancy Summers of Greentop, MO, and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bob Summers, sister-in-law, Helen S. Corbett and one great nephews, Chance Summers.

Charles resided most of his life in Adair County, attending the Wells country school, Kirksville public schools and also school in Marshall, Missouri. He worked a number of years for Sheltered Work Shop. Charles enjoyed attending various churches in the community.

Charles was a very fun loving person who developed many friends throughout his life and considered every day his birthday.

Public visitation will be held Sunday (June 10, 2012) with family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday (June 11, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Todd officiating. Interment will follow the service at Greentop Cemetery in Greentop, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Summers, Joe Summers, David Summers, Cliff Corbett, Tyler Summers and Matt Summers. Honorary bearers will be Curt Corbett, Jim Corbett and Steve Corbett.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Charles Summers may be made to Kirk Tran of Kirksville. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
