Juanita (Borron) Tollenaar
1932 – 2012

Juanita Tollenaar, 79, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday (May 2, 2012) at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Charles McKinney and Mamie (Dalzell) Borron, she was born July 17, 1932 in Winigan, Missouri. On May 3, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri, Juanita was united in marriage to Adelbert Dirk Tollenaar.

Juanita is survived by her husband Del of fifty-nine years; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dan Tollenaar of Kirksville, MO and David and Mary Tollenaar of St. Joseph, MO; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jeff Blakely of Milwaukee, WI and three grandchildren, Evan and Katie Tollenaar and Colin Blakely.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patty Tollenaar; four brothers, Alfred, Herbert, Bill and one in infancy; and three sisters, Betty Ballard, Louise Koch and Lola Simmons.

Juanita was a graduate from Kirksville High School with the Class of 1950 and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. She ran a day care center out of her home twenty-five years before retiring. Juanita enjoyed flowers and feeding and watching birds.

Juanita was a member of Red Hat Ladies and of Hamilton Street Baptist Church where she was a member of Sunday school class.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday (May 5, 2012) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home, with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Music selections will be provided by Terry Mack, who will be accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment will follow the service at Highland Park Cemetery in Kirksville.

Family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday (May 5, 2012) in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Doug Athon, Dana Brown, Terry McElhinney, Jim West, Gene Lewis, Bob Barrickman and Derek Slaughter.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Juanita may be made to the American Heart Association or to Adair County Salvation Army. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
