1949 - 2009

Charles Lee Moore, 60, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday (September 18, 2009) at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The son of Cecil and Inis (Colwell) Moore, he was born July 24, 1949 in Jefferson, Iowa.

Charles is survived by cousins, aunts and friends.

His parents preceded him in death.

Charles was raised in Yale, Iowa and graduated from Yale-Bayard-Jamica High School with the Class of 1967. In 1971, he graduated with a degree in Special Education, SCEC, SNEA from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. Charles then taught Special Education in the Kirksville Public Schools twenty-six years until retiring in 1998. Charles also received a Master’s degree in 1982 as well as attending the Ottumwa School of Evangelism in the70’s.

He served on the OATS Bus committee and loved raising iris, keeping up with friends and family and having birthday parties.

At a young age, Charles attended the Yale Church of Christ, where he was an active member, faithful attendee and played the piano. He was baptized at the age of sixteen. He had a very active Christian life and was a dedicated and active church member. He played piano for church worship at Willmathsville, Meadow Brook and Orleans.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (September 22, 2009) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Lance Bright officiating. Congregational hymns will be "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" and "Victory In Jesus" and selections, "When I’m Gone" and "Blessed Assurance" will be played by Dianthe Cable, organist. Interment will follow the service at the Yale Cemetery in Yale, Iowa, with Evangelist, Eugene Lockling, presiding and music selections, "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" will be provided by Samantha Zickefoose.

Public visitation is in progress and family will receive friends this evening, Monday (September 21, 2009) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Kerby, Phillip Lyon, Dan Green, Jerry Weller, Roger Brown, John Grissom, Max Pritchett and Mickey Hayes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadow Brook Church of Kirksville. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
