Robert Thomas “Tom” Martin
1958 – 2009

 Robert Thomas “Tom” Martin, 51, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, Friday (September 18, 2009) at his home.

 The son of Neal Robert and Jo Ann (McCalment) Martin, he was born April 14, 1958 in Centerville, Iowa. On October 21, 1988, in Kirksville, Missouri, Tom was united in marriage to Marianne Rogers.

 Tom is survived by his wife, Marianne of the home; his mother, Jo Ann Murphy of Kirksville, MO; one son, Kolby Martin of the home; one daughter, Katy Martin and fiancée, Sean Pinkerton both of Kirksville, MO; his sister and brother-in-law, Terri and Gary Godfrey of Unionville, MO, and his six-month old grandson, Connor Pinkerton who was the joy of his life. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; three brothers-in-law, Rod Rogers and wife, Karen of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bob Rogers and wife, Debbie of LaPlata, MO and Randy Rogers and wife, Diane of Kirksville, MO and one sister-in-law, Gyla Elmore and husband, Randy of Kirksville, MO.
 
 He was preceded in death by his father, Neal Martin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leon and Merlene Rogers, maternal grandparents, Wayne and Mary McCalment and paternal grandparents, Neal and Blanche Martin.

 Tom graduated from Putnam County RI High School in Unionville, Missouri, with the Class of 1976 and received a BS degree in Industrial Occupations from Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. While attending college and for a number of years, Tom drove a school bus for Weber Bus Company. For the past ten years, he was employed as a driver for the Public Safety & Security for Truman State University.

 His hobbies included fishing, hunting and working on his cars.

 Tom loved spending time with his family and was a very loving and devoted grandfather to his grandson, Connor. He will be missed so very much by them all.

 Tom was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Kirksville.
 Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (September 23, 2009) at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Pastor Mark Hager officiating. Music selections will be, “Daddy’s Hands”, “When I Get Where I’m Going” and “Hope You Have The Time Of Your Life”. Interment will follow the service at Parkview Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.

 Public visitation will be held after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (September 22, 2009) with family receiving friends, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.

 Pallbearers will be Dean Baker, Kyle Murphy, Louie Davis, Tom Johnson, Nick Michaels and Roger Owings and honorary bearers will be Jeff Howard, Rick Martin, Gerald Owings and Steve Owings.

 Expressions of sympathy in memory of Tom may be made to the Tom Martin Memorial Fund, for the continued education of his children. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501
