KIRKSVILLE, MO -- The Northeast Missouri Health Council has now a better way to serve those with special needs.

The medical center held a lunch and learn for area service agencies at the new Northeast Missouri Dental Clinic earlier Tuesday.

During the event they demonstrated a new wheelchair friendly room, which has a versatile chair to help wheel bound patients to be wheeled in and lifted back to help perform dental procedure without getting the patient out of their seat.

It's the only one of its kind around and opens a door to a new chapter for dental treatment in the clinic.

"It means more access. We can now see more patients who are wheelchair bound. We can bring them in, make them feel comfortable, and we are able to get them real good dental care," said Dr. Tim Herbst, Director of the Northeast Missouri Dental Clinic.

The clinic has been using the new room for about a month.

So far they have been getting positive feedback from patients.
