MEMPHIS, MO -- One Heartland hospital is celebrating a milestone.

Scotland County Hospital in Memphis held an open house for the public to celebrate their recent expansion and renovation five-phase project.

The renovations include a new energy-efficient boiler, a new in and out patient surgery center, a new nursing unit, a radiology imaging suite, and a library conference center.

Everyone who was involved in the project is excited for this new chapter for the hospital.

"Been up here several times and to come up on this day and see a finished product in a small rural community in northeast Missouri is just amazing. I couldn't be any more proud of being a part of it," said Janie Dunning, USDA Rural Development State Director.

"This is an exciting day. We are here for one purpose , and that's to serve our community. We are so ready to do that for the next generations," said Scotland County Hospital C.E.O Marcia Dial.

The hospital's expansion and renovation project are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

A one million dollar grant from the USDA Rural Development's Community Facilities Program made this project possible.
